The most important course for owners of small motor boats. Afterwards you can drive a powerboat safely in sheltered and familiar waters by day, and you can apply for the ICC for power, coastal waters.
The Advanced course trains you to skipper a powerboat on coastal passages by day and night, including pilotage into unfamiliar harbours and navigation with and without electronic aids. Experienced skippers can then take the Advanced Powerboat certificate of competence, an exam with an examiner on board, comparable to the Yachtmaster Coastal exam. Commercial use of a powerboat requires a commercial endorsement.
