Practical exercises on the DSC radio
Work with a training radio, a simulator or a partner. Each card has the same seven tasks with different vessels and data; tasks 1 to 4 (radio settings and data input) are the core exercise, tasks 5 to 7 practise the DSC calls and the Mayday. Open “How to do it” only after you have tried.
Never send a distress alert or any of these calls on a real radio. A false alert starts a real search.
